Double-sided adhesive dots

There are 2 types: "classic" white ones you can buy at supermarkets as well as smaller, transparent ones.

This product allows for a clean adhesion, with the possibility of making minor adjustments and without the risk of overflow or smudging.

 Double-sided tape

The same advantages of double-sided adhesive dots.

It allows for adhesion along large lengths.

Rubber cement

This works well for cardboard. Work needs to be done quickly, though, because it dries quickly. For a clean and effective gluing process, spread the glue with a paintbrush over the entire surface, which will help to avoid unsightly bubbles.

Glue roller

Ideal for fixing ribbons and lace in place before sewing or for provisionally fixing in place any other element before sewing. Overall, its sticking power is weak.

Glue pens

They allow for precision gluing and are very useful for small cutouts (like letters).

Multi-purpose glue

Stronger than a "classic" white glue, it can be bought with a thin tip allows for precision gluing. In its acid-free form, it's ideal for scrapbooking projects. It can be found in the paper section of supermarkets.

A variation is tacky glue, which is a strong multi-purpose glue that dries clear. It can be found in craft stores.

Glue dots

Glue dots, or "sticky dots", are available in several sizes.
Depending on the size of the object you're gluing, there are several options:

  • the smallest ones for small objects (especially beads)
  • the "classic" size for metal embellishments
  • the 3D ones for objects and papers put in relief

They're also very effective on backgrounds other than paper (e.g. canvas, wood, or metal).

 3D foam

Like all 3D glue dots, this double-sided adhesive foam allows objects to be glued in relief.

Super glue

Very useful for gluing anything that hasn't been previously mentioned.

NB: It contains acid, so it's not recommended for use with photos.

3D glue

There are also fine-tipped glues like 3D glue, one brand of which is Design Fix.

Thanks to its thin tip, it can be used to draw patterns that can then be honed with toothpicks, if necessary.

White when it comes out of the tube, it dries transparent and can be decorated with glitter or sequins.

The following video shows several creative ideas for 3D glue:

Neoprene glue

Neoprene glue is a strong, water-resistant glue. It can be used on many materials, including leather, rubber, fabric, wood, or plastic. (Be careful, because neoprene glue can dissolve certain plastics like PVC or polystyrene.)

To use, apply it to the 2 surfaces you want to glue, press the 2 surfaces together firmly, and wait about 10 minutes while the glue dries. To remove, use acetone on wet glue and scrape off dry glue.
