Fish Pattern

Fish Pattern friendship bracelet - knots - tutorial - handicraft work  : 

To make a fish pattern, alternate between chevron and inverse chevron knots. You'll need to master the diamond and cross patterns, too.

Supplies

Tools

  • Scissors
  • Tape measure

Materials

  • Several skeins of embroidery floss or other cotton thread, cut into 80-cm (32-inch) sections
  • 1.2 m (4 ft) embroidery floss or other cotton thread of a different color (this thread will design the fish pattern; in the example, green)

Directions

For a bracelet measuring about 15 cm (6 inches):

  • Knot several threads together (here, 8 threads in 3 different colors). 
  • With each thread, make inverse chevron knots, starting with the center threads.

  • Make a diamond with threads 1 and 8.

  • At the end of the diamond, start a chevron with threads 5 and 4.
    ! - Don't make knots on thread 1.
  • Make chevrons with threads 6 and 3 as you would for the cross pattern.

  • Make 2 backward knots with thread 8 on thread 6 and 2 forward knots with thread 1 on thread 4.

  • Make the right branch of the cross with thread 1.

  • Make the left branch of the cross with thread 8.
  • You've made the fish. Continue, following the chevron pattern.
