Cocktail Decorations

What to we do when the cocktail is finished?  We decorateAccessories are the ultimate people pleaser and demonstrate just how much you know about cocktail party hosting.   This little effort impresses guests- and a little bonus for everyone?  The edible garnishes: appetizing for the eye and the taste buds!

Decoration Objects

Parasol

  • A classic cocktail must! Perfect for sweeter drinks, the parasol should be placed on the side of a glass or in a fruit garnish. Your guests will think they are in paradise!

Straw

  • It is rare to consume cocktails with anything but our lips, but longer drinks such as fruit cocktails can benefit from this technique.  The straw pleases the eye and also serves the purpose of consumation, but make sure to pay attention to the colors! Have this little addition blend nicely with the color of the drinks. Add two straws for fun.

Swizzle Stick

  • Like straws, swizzle sticks are both useful and aesthetically pleasing bringing color to our glasses.  They also help guests to sort out "whose is whose" after setting their cocktails down. A fun ice breaker!

Fruit Garnishes

Whoever said fruits were just meant to be eaten clearly had no taste in cocktail presentation! Let's take a look at this scrumtious decoration's various forms and colors.

  • Fruit stick: Skewer the fruit pieces onto various-colored toothpicks.

  • Whole fruit : Skewer a whole fruit ( litchi, straberry, cherry, etc) onto a tooth-pick and let it float in the glass.

  • Zest: The zest is the rind of a fruit (normally lemon or orange).  To cut it, use a zester or a simple kitchen knife.

! Be sure not to use the white part of the rind.

  • Fruit slice: Most of the time, Orange or lemon slices decorate the rim of our cocktail cups- but it is perfectly acceptable to use kiwi, pinapple, or any other compact fruit as well which will allow for graceful presentation.

  • Iced fruit: Rinse the fruit you wish to use and role it in granulated sugar before putting it in the freezer. Remove just before serving.

Candy

Cocktails for the sweet-tooth! As with fruit, candy decorations are to be savored.  Place any of your favorite soft candies on a skewer and serve.  Impossible to resist!  Delicious and colorful, this fun decoration idea will awaken the child in you.
