Toothpick sculpture  How to build structures with toothpicks  : 

Toothpicks make incredible craft materials and can be used to build all sorts of cool structures. Whether you’ve been amazed at the incredible toothpick craft of Stan Munro and want to try for yourself, or you have to build a toothpick bridge for a science assignment, read on and learn everything you need to know about building with toothpicks. These are only the basics - feel free to adapt this technique to create your own toothpick masterpieces! 

Supplies
Tools
  • Scissors (lightweight work best)
  • Ruler
  • Clear sheet protector
Materials
  • Round, square-centered toothpicks
  • PVA glue
  • Masking tape
  • Optional: template
Directions
  • Place the toothpicks in a row and hold them in place by placing a piece of tape across them.

  • Turn the row over and spread a vey small amount of PVA glue over the row.
  • Leave to dry.
  • When the glue has dried, remove the tape.
  • Cut the toothpicks to the desired length with scissors.

  • If you have a template, place it in a clear sheet protector and assemble your toothpick shapes on that.
  • Voila! You have your building blocks to make your toothpick model. Follow whatever instructions you have to make your own toothpick model. Why not try our toothpick windmill using the tips you have just picked up?

 

Tips
  • More glue does not make a project stronger, it just takes it longer to dry, so be very sparing with glue.
