A cocktail is, by definition, a drink made by mixing 2 other drinks together. There are two types of cocktail: non-alcoholic cocktails made with fruit juice, and alcoholic cocktails. Absolutely anyone can make a cocktail and everyone tweaks the recipes and adds whichever drinks they want to give them the flavour they're after. If you can master a few basic techniques, you'll be more in-the-know of how to make and present your cocktails. For example, if you knew how to frost a glass, crush the ice, make a layered cocktail or decorate the cocktail, you would be able to pass off as a real bartender!

Tools

Cocktail glass
Cocktail shaker
Mixing spoon
An ice tray
Sommelier knife (or a corkscrew or bottle-opener)

Materials

Drinks that you need to make the cocktail, alcoholic or non-alcoholic.
Decorations of all types (sweets, pieces of fruit, paper umbrellas etc.)

Directions

Prepare the ingredients (cut the pieces of fruit, crush the ice etc...) and leave them close to hand.
Mix together the ingredients in correct amounts and in the correct order.
Pour everything into the cocktail glass.
