Knitted Circle

Knitted Circle  Knitting How tos: knitted circles  : 

This is the original method for making a knitted circle. The number of stitches and the type of wool used can vary to the example we have provided, so get creative and customize your own knitted circle!

  • Knitting needles

  • Knitting wool n°3
Directions

First row of the knitted circle

  • Knit 19 stitches

NB: for each row, the non-knitted stitches will be on the left hand knitting needle. 

  • Knit from one direction, then in the other direction for each of the rows.
  • Knit 13 stitches on the next row.
  • Turn the knitting and knit the same 13 stitches in the other direction.
  • Knit 9 rows on the next row.
  • Turn the knitting and knit the same 9 stitches in the other direction.
  • Knit 5 stitches on the next row.
  • Turn the knitting and knit the same 5 stitches in the other direction.

 

Make the disc shape for the knitted circle

  • On the next row, knit all 19 stitches.
  • Turn the knitting and knit the same 19 stitches in the other direction.
  • Resume the decrease in stitching with every other row, as shown above.

  • After about 26 knitted rows, finely sew to close the piece.

 

  • Sew the thread so it is in the centre of the stitches.
  • Softly pull and tighten the stitches.
  • Tie a clean finish and remove the excess yarn.
