What is it a tack stitch?
- The tack stitch is a temporary stitch which maintains two lengths before permanently fitting them together.
- The tack stitch is done with a specific thread, called "fil à batir".
- It is designed to break easily and therefore be easier to remove.
- It is often pink, so it's easier to spot, however it can also be white for a dark fabric and black for a bright fabric.
- It is cheaper than standard thread.
How do I do a tack stitch?
Follow the same steps as you would for the threaded stitch. Make equal stitches on the wrong side and on the right side, from 6 to 10 mm.
