Directions

Prepare the objects for metal painting

  • Carefully clean your object. The metal needs to be completely clean before painting.
    • To get rid of any grime, use a brush, soap, and lots of water. Dry it with a clean rag.
    • If your object is rusted, brush it with a wire brush and remove the rust with potassium carbonate.
    • To copper objects with verdigris, clean with a polishing paste.
  • Apply a coat of anti-rust primer. This first coat creates a smooth surface for the following coats and the colors that you apply later will stick better.

Begin metak painting

  • Paint the background color of your object with a large brush to avoid any brush marks.
  • Let dry several hours.
NB: The more slowly the paint dries, the better the result will be.
  • Draw your design with grease pencil, using carbon paper held in place with a rubber band.
  • Paint your design and let it dry for several hours.
