Children love to dream of faraway lands...so what if they could reach them thanks to this tutorial to make a toy boat? Encourage their imagination and be eco-friendly by using recycled materials to make the little boat. Perfect for children under 6 years old..

Materials

2 yoghurt pots
1 carton e.g. milk carton
1 small wine glass
1 cork or other decoration
Permanent felt tip pens
large sellotape/scotch
waterproof acrylic paint

Directions

Make the recycled boat

Cut the carton in half lengthways.

Cut one of the halves in half again, widthways, to make the cabin.
Trace, then cut out circles to form the windows of the cabin (you can use a glass as a stencil).

Paint the different parts with the acrylic paint.
Leave to dry, or dry with a hairdryer.

Tape on the cabin to fix it securely (glue will not adhere well).

Finishing touches to the recycled boat

Make the chimneys:
- Paint the sides of the empty yoghurt pots.
- Glue the chimneys to the roof of the cabin.
Decorate the boat inside and outside, sticking everything down.
