Towelling bib Free sewing pattern

A bib that is simple to make and personalize. Why not make one for your children or as a present for a new-born?

Supplies
Tools
Materials
  • 27cm x 32cm of towelling
  • 27cm x 32cm of patterned fabric
  • 75cm of tape
  • Matching sewing thread
  • A sheet of scrap paper
Directions

Make the towelling bib

  • Cut out a 27cm x 32cm rectangle in each fabric (towelling and pattern)

  • Create a template with the paper: 1 quarter of a circle 4.5cm wide and 5cm deep.

  • Pin the 2 pieces of fabric together.
  • Fold the longest side of the rectangle in half, cut the template on the folded edge to fit the shape of the neck.

  • Attach a flower made out of the patterned fabric and use a cut-off from the towelling to make the centre of the flower.

  • Pin right sides of fabrics togeth.

  • If you want to personalise your bib with a label, choose the lower section of the bib, so it doesn’t hinder the child.
  • Sew one edge of the neck to the other, leaving the half circle open to turn the bib inside-out.
  • Cut the corners and turn it inside-out.

Assemble the towelling bib

  • Sew again all the way around the bib, so that the two fabrics are strongly attached.

  • Pin the tape along the neck line, matching the middle of the tape with the centre of the neck line.

  • Sew the folded tape from one end to the other: so that the bib can be tied around the child’s neck.
