Panda vase how to make a porcelain panda vase

Make a single-stem panda vase following these instructions. The porcelain can be washed with a bottle brush and once the panda is dry, you don't have to worry if your panda vase gets a bit wet.

Supplies
Tools
  • Modelling tools (or a kitchen knife)
  • Fine paintbrush
  • 2mm ball mirette sculpting tool
Materials
  • White, black and pink cold porcelain
  • Glass tube
  • Stem of dried bamboo
  • Porcelain blush (or oil pastels)
  • Greaseproof paper to protect the design of the work
  • PVA glue
  • Toothpicks
  • White, black and green paint for the eyes.
  • Raffia (or ribbon) (optional).
Directions
  • Cut the bamboo stem in 4 and place on the greaseproof paper crossing each other.

Panda's body of the porcelain vase

  • Roll some of your white cold porcelain into a ball first of all and then lengthen it to make a drop shape.

  • Put some glue on the underneath of the body and place it on the bamboo stems.

  • Apply some blush on the stomach.

  • Make a hole for the navel and push the toothpick through the neck to place the head on later.

  • Roll out a ball of black cold porcelain and cut it in half to make the thighs.

  • Make the legs from a drop-like shape and attach them to each side of the body.

  • Fashion 2 smaller drop shapes for the feet and attach them to the end of the legs.

  • Mark on the claws.

  • Roll out a long thin sausage-like shape of pink cold porcelain and cut 8 pieces of equal size.

  • Roll the pieces into 8 little balls and stick them on the sole of the feet.

  • Make 2 arms out of carrot shapes of black cold porcelain.

  • Fix them on top of the body, wrap them around the glass tube and mark the claws on them as well.

  • Lean the tube against a heavy object so that it doesn't topple over and leave the model to dry for at least a day.

Make the panda's head of the porcelain vase

  • After leaving the body to dry for 1 day, roll out a ball of white cold porcelain for the head and place it on the toothpick, fixing it on the body with some glue.

  • Roll out 2 small black balls and attach them to the front of the head.

  • Push down on the balls to flatten them.

  • Hollow out the eyes.

  • Place 2 googly eyes in the holes, or, if you wish, leave the lodel to dry and paint them yourself.

  • Apply some blush to the cheeks.

  • Make 2 balls for the ears and attach them to the head.

  • Hollow out the ears with the modelling tool.

Finishing touches to the porcelain vase

  • After a few days, when the model is dry, tie a bit of ribbon or raffia around the neck.

  • Fill the tube with water and place a shoot of fresh bamboo in it.
