Magic Card Free craft project

When your child is inviting someone to his or her birthday party, why not make this magic birthday card?  Using the paper slide between the sheets, the character on the card changes from black and white to color. Guaranteed to cause surprise and joy.

Supplies
Tools
  • Fine water-resistant felt pen
  • Scissors
  • Colored crayons
Materials
  • Tracing paper
  • Blank sheet
  • Light-colored patterned craft paper
  • Colored cardboard sheets
  • White glue
Directions

Draw and color the magic card

  • Print off (or draw) the character of your choice on a white sheet of paper.

  • Go over character's outline using a water-proof felt pen.

  • Place a sheet of tracing paper on the white sheet and trace the character with the felt tip pen.

  • Cut out the 2 sheets, making sure they are the same size and leaving enough room around the character so that you can put a frame around it.

  • Color in the character on the white sheet only.

Assemble the card

  • Stick the top, bottom and left edges of the tracing paper on the white sheet.

  • Stick the 4 strips of colored cardboard on the tracing paper to make a border.

  • Cut a third sheet out of patterned craft paper in the same size as the previous 2, but this time with a flap on the right hand side.

  • Slide it through the gap between the white paper and the tracing paper.

NB: Above all do not glue this third sheet in place. It needs to be able to move!

  • Decorate the frame.
