Fruits déguisés are a classic sugary treat at New Year's parties and are very typically French. They are very simple to make: all you have to do is fill dry fruits with colored almond paste and roll them in granulated sugar to make them more festive.
The recipe below uses prunes and dates, but any other dried fruit can be used for the same recipe.
Put some pressure on them so that the fruit and the almond paste stick together well.
Roll everything in the granulated sugar.
Place on a plate, playing around with color and symetry when arranging them.
In the shops, you generally get pink or green marzipan. Why not make some of your own marzipan with the colors of your choosing?
