Putting a new spin on the traditional advent calendar, here is our garland version. Sew some fabric pockets, fill them with surprises and then attach them to a ribbon. Hung up, this advent calendar garland will be one of the first Christmas decorations up in your house, and once Christmas is over, you can use it for tidying up!
Cut out the rectangles using pinking shears (instead you can oversew the edges).
Mark a border line of 5mm on both sides.
Mark a border line of 8mm of the horizontal sides.
Prepare the attachment pieces on the back of the pockets.
Stitch the border lines by positioning the attachment piece on the back of each pocket and make sure the attachment piece gets sowed onto the pocket.
Write the letters 1 to 24 on each of the perforated labels.
Slide each label onto the boondoggle thread of each pocket.
Close the drawstring.
Pass a ribbon through each attachment piece.
Tie a knot to prevent the pocket from sliding along the ribbon.
