This Kids' Play Kitchen is ideal for girls that want to do what their mum does! However, it takes a lot of skill and patience to make it! This wooden toy will let the little ones cook nice little dishes. Why not make some felt food to go with it too, for a vry 'real' kitchen experience with none of the mess? 

Supplies
Tools
  • Electric drill/screwdriver
  • Saw/jigsaw
Materials
  • Screw
  • Planks of wood, bits of plywood etc.
  • Stainless steel dish
  • Tap
  • Fabric (50cm x 60cm)
  • Ribbon and hooks
  • Handle
  • Square of plexiglass (18cm x 25cm).
  • 2 small hinges
  • Sheet magnets
  • 6 hook
  • 4 jar tops
  • 4 milk bottle tops
  • Wood filler
  • Paint
  • Varnish
Directions

Prepare the pieces for Kids Play Kitchen

  • Cut the wood in the following dimensions:
    • A: 50cm x 80m
    • B: 32cm x 80cm
    • C: 76cm x 28cm
    • D: 32cm x 50cm (X2)
    • E: 30cm x 38cm (X2)
    • F: 43cm x 31cm
    • G: 71cm x 10cm
    • H: 10cm x 14cm (X2)
    • I: 41cm x 46cm

  • Cut off the top corners of piece of wood A to round them off.

  • Cut a hole in piece of wood B so you can place the stainless steel dish (which will be the sink) in there in the future.

  • Cut out the oven door and cut out a square in it of 30cm x 23cm, using a jigsaw if possible.

Assemble the pieces together

  • Fix the piece of plexiglass to the oven door using screws, sheet magnets and hooks.

  • Fix piece I onto the front.

  • Attach tbe hooks under the shelving and the jar lids by pushing them down onto the screwheads. 

Decoration of the Kids Play Kitchen

  • Pierce a hold in the centre of the milk bottle tops and screw them under the oven.

  • Place the stainless steel dish into the hole.

  • Put a hem on the fabric on 3 sides.

  • Make a slide runner at the top of the fabric.

  • Slide the fabric onto the cord and attach it in front of the shelves.

  • Put the tap in position with a screw.

  • Cover up the screwheads using wood filler.

  • Paint and varnish everything.
