Floral Wall Art Home decoration: floral wall art

Cilou shows us how to make a beautiful (and deceptively easy) wall art piece using old fabric scraps. These abstract flowers are perfect for decorating a girl's bedroom could easily be turned into robots or race cars to suit the boys.

Supplies
Tools
  • Pair of scissors
  • Fabric chalk (or pencil)
  • Black Sharpie or marker (or a tube of 3D paint)
  • Ruler
  • Sponge brush (for gluing)
Materials
  • Fabric scraps (paper or felt work too)
  • Large canvas
  • Varnish glue
Directions
  • On the back side of fabric scraps, draw circles of various sizes. Use jars or glasses to help you.
  • Cut out circles, keeping edges neat.
  • Create your bouquet, positioning the circles on the canvas.

TIP: Try different layouts until you find the one that works best with the colors and patterns of the fabrics.

  • Using the varnish glue, glue the circles to the canvas.
  • Smooth out the fabric with the help of the sponge brush.
  • Once the circles are glued down, let them dry.
  • With a black marker, trace around the edges of the circles for definition.

TIP: Test your marker on a corner on the back of the canvas to make sure the ink doesn't run.

  • Using a ruler, lightly draw the stems, making sure to continue the lines all the way to the bottom of the canvas.
  • Draw a few delicate leaves.
