  • 200 g (7 oz) softened butter

  • Grease and flour the cake tin.

  • Put the raisins and rum together in a bowl.

  • Cut up the butter into small pieces.

  • Mix the flour with the raising agent in a large bowl.

  • Pour the soft brown sugar, the vanilla sugar and the butter into the food processor.

  • Blend until the mixture is smooth.

  • Add in the eggs and mix, one at a time.

  • Pour in the flour and raising agent and mix thoroughly.

  • Turn off the food processor, add the other ingredients and mix with a spoon:

    • Start by adding the rum and raisins
    • Then add the powdered nuts and the praline chocolate.
    • Last add the rice and corn flakes.
  • Pour the cake mix into the cake tin and bake for 40 to 50 minutes.

  • Remove the cake tin, place onto the cooling racke, and wait for the cake to fully cool before making it into a coffin shape.

Cutting up the cake

  • Cut off the top of the cake to leave a flat surface.

  • Flip over the cake onto its reverse side.

  • Mark the corners of the coffin, and where the cake needs to be cut, using the tip of the knife.

  • Cut out the cake by joining up the 4 corners and following the lines marked out.

  • Remove the excess cake which has been cut away, leaving just the center.

Decorating the cake

  • Melt the 150 g (5.3 oz) dark chocolate and completely cover the cake.
  • Allow the chocolate to set.

  • Decorate the coffin with whatever shapes you want (a cross, a skull, a skeleton, the word 'Halloween', a spider, dracula...)

Tips
  • The marzipan, sweet shortbread and sweets can be used to decorate the cake.
