Nativity Scene  Christmas Decoration: corn nativity scene

These little corn characters are highly sought after Christmas decorations. Now, we too can make a Chrismas Crib, to stage Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus to put underneath the Christmas tree.

Supplies
Tools
  • Scissors
  • Felt-tip pen
Materials
  • Corn leaves
  • Corncob
  • Glue
  • String
Directions
  • Pull off the leaves of 2 or 3 corncobs.
  • Cut off the hard base and the tip to get a good leaf to work with.

Head

  • Put a small ball or a nut into the middle of the corn leaf.
  • Tie it off with strong cotton thread.

Arms

  • Roll up a leaf.
  • Add another by passing over the back.
  • Turn the ends over or simply tie them.

Corsage

  • Place a double leaf in front and another behind which is tied at the neck, hiding the head.
  • Turn up the leaves.
  • Slide in the arms.
  • Tie.

Body

  • Stagger the leaves (around 8 leaves, turned towards the head).
  • Tie.
  • Turn them up.
  • Ajust their size/ shape with the scissors.

Headgear

  • Cut out a triangle and a circle from the leaf.
  • Make a cone.
  • Stick with hot glue (onto a plastic bottle cap) turn in a little over the capavec un petit rentré sous le bouchon.
  • Stick down onto the circle
  • Glue on the hair likewise.(the hair can be found in the corncob)

Cloak

  • Using the largest leaf, cut out the shape of a cloak as large as possible.
  • Glue in place.
  • Draw in the eyes and mouth with a felt-tip pen.
