1. Cut pieces A1 and A2 from the fabric chosen for the headscarf.
2. Use fabric paint to draw the Russian doll face on A1.
3. Or print the Russian doll face on transfer paper and iron it on.
5. Pin A1 onto B.
6. Sew A1 and B together with a zigzag stitch, switching to a tight zigzag stitch for the "knot" of the headscarf.
7. Sew on lace edging.
8. Fold ribbon in half and pin it at the top of A1 and B.
9. Sew it in place with a zigzag stitch.
10. Pin A2 onto B.
12. Sew on lace edging.
13. Cut piece C, 2 times, in the fabric chosen for the lining and 2 times in the flannel.
14. Pin together A1/B, flannel C, and lining C.
15. Sew 5 mm (1/16 inch) from the edge with a running stitch.
17. Sew 5 mm (1/16 inch) from the edge with a running stitch.
18. Pin together the 2 pieces you've created, placing side A1/B against side A2/B (right sides together).
19. Sew 5 mm (1/16 inch) from the edge with a zigzag stitch.
21. Turn right side out.
22. Add bias tape around the bottom opening.
Follow the same instructions as for the oven mitt, with these exceptions:
8. Fold ribbon in half and pin it on top of A2.
9. Sew the edge with a zigzag stitch.
13. Cut piece C in flannel.
16. Sew bias tape around the border of the potholder.
