Apple Rosette Edible Cocktail Decorations

An apple rosette that's easy to make and yummy to eat! Frédéric Jaunault, the mastermind behind this creation, shows you how to make your own apple rosette in the handy video below. Decorate a table, a dish, or even a cocktail: let your imagination go wild! This apple rosette is also a great way of encouraging kids to eat fruit.

Supplies
Tools
  • 1 serrated knife
  • 1 apple spoon, regular size
  • 1 toothpick
Materials
  • 1 green apple (Granny Smith)
  • 1 redcurrant seed
Directions

Cut the apple for the apple rosette

  • Cut the apple in half, to about 1cm from the center, as in the photo.
  • With the serrated knife, begin to slice the piece as thin as possible, in fine slivers 1-2mm thick maximum.
  • Hold onto the other part of the apple for later.
  • Don't slice more than half of this portion of the apple. Make sure that the slivers are the same width.

Assemble the apple rosette

  • Attach the apple slices to the toothpick by pushing the toothpick slowly through the entire stack, in the corner of the apple.
  • Arrange the apple slices in a straight stack so that all their points are lined up on one side (hold the stack on its side and push it onto a flat plat), in a straight stack.
  • At this level, insert a toothpick. Make sure the toothpick is no more than .5cm from the tips of the slices.
  • With the help of an apple scooper, make a round sphere.

  • Fix the apple ball on the toothpick, behind the stack of apple slices.

Finish the apple rosette

  • Move the slices apart to make a pretty geometrical figure.
  • Put the redcurrant seed on top to hide the tip of the toothpick.
  • Attach the apple ball on the edge of your glass.
  • With the redcurrant seed facing up, lightly push the opposite end of the toothpick (underneath the rosette) into the apple ball.
