Materials
- 90 x 90 cm of cloth for the exterior of the bag (try to find a stronger fabric)
- 90 x 90 cm of denim cloth for the lining
- Matching thread
Directions
Cut and sew the shopping bag
- Cut, by following the dimensions below, in both fabrics.
- Cut 4 rectangles 60 x5 cm for the handles.
- Pin then sew the sides on the inside and outside, first with the exterior fabric, then with the liner fabric.
NB: sew on the wrong side of the bag to hide the seams
- Leave an 8 cm space unsewn on one of the fabrics.
Straps of the shopping bag
- Fold the rectangles in half
- With the iron, mark the hems on the main sides.
- Place two rectangles, one over the other and pin in place, on the long ends.
NB : sewing is on the exterior and hemming is on the interior.
Assembly of the shopping bag
- Turn the bag right-side-out.
- Slip within the bag lining so that the two fabrics line up perfectly along the seams, etc.
- Between the two fabrics, position the straps not allowing them to pass 1 cm.
NB: position them well in the same place on both sides.
- Prick all over the seams so that both pieces line up.
- Go back by the space left in the lining.
- Close with small stitches.
