Materials
- For the memory game:
- 12 "cards" (6 images, each used twice) cut out from fabric that has child-friendly patterns (here, the scraps came from a duvet cover)
- 1 cardboard template cut to the desired measurements (here, 13 x 10 cm/5-1/8 x 3-15/16 inches)
- 12 identical fabric pieces for the backs of the cards
- Matching thread
- Fusible interfacing (optional)
- For the case:
- Fabric for the case
- Fabric for the lining
- Fusible interfacing
- Matching thread
- Hook-and-loop fasteners (Velcro)
Directions
Make the memory game
- Position the template over the image to be cut out and trace around the template, allowing 0.5 cm (3/16 inch) for the seams.
- Cut out each image twice.

- Sew each image to its lining, right sides together, leaving unsewn space to turn it right side out.
- Turn right side out and stitch closed.

- Smooth the seams with an iron.
- Sew around the cards with a zigzag stitch so that they stay in place better on the table.

Make the case for the memory game
- Cut out enough fabric to cover the game on both sides and include a flap.
- Apply the fusible interfacing with a hot iron.

- Cut out a lining with the same measurements.
- Sew the 3 pieces together, right sides together, leaving a small opening to turn it right side out.

- Turn right side out and close it with a zigzag stitch.
- Cut 2 pieces of Velcro measuring 5 cm (2 inches) each.
- Figure out where the Velcro should be and pin it in place.
- Sew a few stitches to hold the Velcro in place.

- Sew around the edges of the Velcro.

Tips
- Use fusible interfacing on the back of the cards to stiffen them if you're using a flimsy fabric.
