These little hanging candle jars were originally made from old glass jars found at the bottom of a barn and from colored bits of paper. No need to splash out on expensive materials when you can use materials you already have!

Their creator, Emmanuelle, took her inspiration from the vines of her native Bourgogne, in France, and she generously shares her creative experiences on her blog "Et moi alors dans tout ça !".

Materials

Glass jars (or glass yogurt containers)
Sheets of tissue paper (or any other thin, see-through type of paper)
Eco-Fil string like that used for vines (wire tightly wrapped with a paper coating)
Tealight candles
Mod Podge or other decoupage glue, or glue and glaze (see how)

Directions

Prepare the jars for the candle jars

Tear different colored sheets of papers into pieces (see photo 1).
Glue the pieces onto the glass using decoupage glue, avoiding too much overlap between pieces (see photo 2).
Cut three peices of Eco-Fil: 2 pieces of 20 cm (8 inches) and 1 piece of 65 cm (26 inches).
- Wrap the long piece of string around the neck of the jar and make a small handle with it, leaving 20 cm (8 inches) of string on each end.
- Create a spiral in each of the free ends and in the two other pieces of string using a pencil (see photo 3).

Add a handle to the candle jars

Use a pencil to trace the outlines of 2 vine leaves on colored paper and cut them out (see photo 4).
Make a hole in the base of each leaf (see photo 5). Insert each of the 2 spirals into a leaf.
Attach a leaf at the base of the handle on each side by twisting it securely into place (see photo 6).
