Belt pattern How to make your own belt: belt pattern
 :

A reversible belt pattern made of fabric with a quilted effect goes well with a tunic, jeans, a dress, etc. In other words, it's an essential for a chic and practical wardrobe.

Supplies
Tools
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Measuring tape
  • Sewing machine (or thread and a needle)
Materials
  • 2 different fabrics (amount depends on waist size and desired belt width)
  • Thin flannel (amount depends on waist size and desired belt width)
  • 80 cm (31-1/2 inches) matching ribbon
Directions

Prepare your belt pattern

  • Measure around your waist.

  • Mark the fabric with the desired length and width.
NB: Remember to add a little additional space for the seams.
  • Cut this band in the 2 fabrics and the flannel.
  • Put together the 2 fabrics, right sides together.

  • Pin the flannel on one of the fabrics. The flannel is now on the outside.
  • Sew the 3 layers along 2 long sides and 1 width, leaving an opening the size of your ribbon on the upper corner.

  • Cut 40 cm (15-3/4 inches) of ribbon and slide it between the 2 fabrics in the upper corner.
  • Sew it in place, leaving a 1-cm/3/8-inch tail.
NB: This 1-cm (3/8-inch) ribon tail will be on the inside of the belt once it's turned right side out.

Finishing touches for the belt pattern

  • Turn the belt right side out so that the flannel is on the inside.

  • Sew the last width, attaching the end of the other ribbon in the other upper corner.

  • Finish by stitching in zigzag stitches along the length of the belt, which will make it appear quilted.
NB: If your sewing machine only does simple stitches, you can add a shape to your stitching.
