Supplies
Tools
- Compass (or round object)
- Needle
- Embroidery needle
- Scissors
Materials
- 2 pieces of fabric for the flower
- Green fabric for the leaves
- Wadding
- Sewing thread
- Embroidery thread that matches the fabric
- 1 button (or 1 medium-sized bead)
Directions
- Put the pieces of fabric for the flower together, right sides touching.
- Draw a circle of the desired size on the wrong side of the fabric.

- Sew the circle through the 2 layers of fabric, right sides together, leaving a small opening to turn the fabric right side out.

- Turn the fabric right side out.
- Fill the fabric with wadding.
- Close the opening with a few small stitches.

- With an embroidery needle, prick the center of the circle and push the needle through the other side. Pull the thread through.

- Reprick again at the same spot and pull the thread tight.

- To form the petals, divide the flower into 4 equal parts, then split them again to make 8 petals.
- Tie a knot and let the rest of the thread hang to use in the next steps.

- Draw the leaves and cut the design twice.

- To make the leaves, there are 2 options depending on the type of fabric:
- Sew the 2 layers of fabric together, wrong sides together, oversewing the edges and leaving a small opening through which to slide the wadding (option chosen for the example).
- Sew the 2 layers of fabric together, right sides together, leaving a small opening. Cut away any extra tissue and turn it right side out.

- Fill the leaves with wadding and sew the opening shut.
- Sew the flower and the leaves together with the remaining embroidery thread, adding a button (or bead) at the center of the flower.

- Finish by embroidering the veins of the leaves.
